(CNN) — On March 24, World Vision announced that the U.S. branch of the popular humanitarian organization would no longer discriminate against employees in same-sex marriages.

It was a decision that surprised many but one that made sense, given the organization’s ecumenical nature.

But on March 26, World Vision President Richard Stearns reversed the decision, stating, “our board acknowledged that the policy change we made was a mistake.”

Supporters helped the aid group “see that with more clarity,” Stearns added, “and we’re asking you to forgive us for that mistake.”

So what happened within those 48 hours to cause such a sudden reversal?

The Evangelical Machine kicked into gear.

Happy Springtime! 🌳🌷🌸
UNEXPECTED. Tonight I earned the first stripe on my BJJ white belt! In January I made the decision to find a gym where I could begin practicing Brazilian Jiujitsu. I was looking for a challenge of mind, body, and soul. And I found it. For years I reluctantly went to the gym alone or tried to go running regularly as my way to stay in shape. But I hated it. I never saw progress and I inevitably took months off at a time and would land back at square one. THIS has been different. Working with my training partners has been super invigorating. I am so happy I was led to @evolveall where I was introduced to @cesarcabrerabjj, @emersondoyle, and the rest of my team. I have tapped out well over 100 times in the last four months. But I am seeing small victories both in my game, my mental strength, and in my lifestyle as I am to live a healthier life. I am amped... #bjj #cesarcabrerabjj #whitebeltjourney #firststripe
This is MY DUDE! I still can’t wrap my head around being a dad and having this guy in our lives. #🐻mcnair
SOME of our BJJ crew at @evolveall with @cesarcabrerabjj and @emersondoyle. Slow improvement. Patience. Hard work. #cabrerabjj #whitebeltjourney
Cassian Michael “Bear” McNair was born today at 1:33pm! He and Lillian are both healthy. He weighs 6.8lbs and is very alert and chill! We are so joyful to have him in our lives. Thank you for all your love and support during the pregnancy and we can’t wait to introduce you to him. St. Cassian of Imola was a 4th century Christian martyr who was executed for refusing to sacrifice to idols. He is a patron saint of schoolteachers. Cassian was a popular name for many Christians in the early church, which we have looked to for inspiration for much of our spiritual lives. And yes... the name also appears in one of the best Star Wars movies. 😊 We have to give a special shoutout to our amazing and talented friend Robin Saferite who was a superstar today helping us through the delivery! We couldn’t have done it without her.
